What is a death mask?
A death mask is a mould made of special silicone taken from the face of a deceased person.
As the last image of man, it closes the circle between life and death and symbolises ‘that although death separates people, it can never sever their inner bond’. (Ernst Benkhard)
If the thought of preserving the face of your deceased loved one is foreign to you, perhaps the imprint of a hand could become a symbol of your inner connection.
I am always endeavouring to further my education and explore new avenues, such as creating a death and living mask using the Ekviderm method. Ekviderm comes from the Latin and means ‘like the skin’. This method leaves no residue on the skin and is allergy-free.
The Ekviderm process was developed by the company Körper & Form.
